Hello — I'm Jessica.
Beauty therapist, sole trader, 2 years in, working from a treatment room at home in Middleton, Leeds and out of the back of the car across south Leeds.
How this started
It began at the kitchen table.
I started doing brows at the kitchen table, for friends, in the evenings after a job I was not especially fond of. One of them mentioned it to somebody at work, and that was more or less that.
I took my VTCT Level 2, then my Level 3, and turned the spare room into a treatment room with a beauty bed that only just fits.
Two years on, facials are what people come back for. That surprised me at first. It turned out nobody nearby was doing an unrushed, proper facial at a price that made sense — so that became the thing the room is built around.
I still do mobile visits, because some of my clients cannot easily get out, and I do not think that should stop them.

- Full public liability and treatment insurance
Covering the treatment room and every mobile visit.
Certificates are on the wall and you are welcome to read them. I am a beauty therapist, not a nurse — if something needs a GP rather than a facial, I will say so.
Hygiene
The unglamorous part I care about most.
- Tools disinfected and sterilised between every client, without exception
- Single-use where it should be single-use — spatulas, applicators, files where needed
- Wax is never double-dipped
- Fresh towels and paper roll for every appointment, at home or mobile
- Surfaces and the beauty bed wiped down between clients
- Gloves for extractions and anything that breaks the skin surface
- Patch tests logged with the date, so we both know when the next one is due
A room at home is held to the same standards as anywhere else. It is set up for treatments and nothing else — it is not a spare bedroom with a beauty bed wheeled in.
